Kwara State Govt Tasks Cadre Harmonise on Accurate Data

The Kwara State Government has charged Cadre Harmonise (CH) Task Force Team to generate accurate data analysis on food and nutrition, for an improved well-being of the Kwara populace.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas gave this charge at a meeting with the State Task Force Team, held at the Ministry's Headquarters in Ilorin.

The Commissioner disclosed at the meeting that the outcome of the Task Force analysis is critical to the successful implementation of government's programmes and projects on food and nutrition security of the State and the Country at large. 

She urged the team to exercise diligence and commitment in discharging its duties, and ensure that all the sectors involved were captured in the final analysis. 

This the Commissioner explained, would enable the government and other relevant agencies to understand the right sector in need of critical assistance, to achieve sustainable development goals on zero hunger, good health, and well-being as well as clean water and sanitation in the Country.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Tpl. Ishiaq Yinka Oloruko-oba advised the team to imbibe the spirit of teamwork for effective delivery in the overall interest of the state. 

Earlier, the CH State Coordinator, Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye had informed the Commissioner that the programme was introduced in 2015 with 21 participating states, and Kwara State was incorporated into the programme in January 2022, after the state government expressed its willingness to ensure the realization of food and nutrition security in the state.

Mr. Oyawoye explained that the programme was designed to serve as an early warning tool developed to inform national, regional, and global authorities on food and nutrition crisis prevention and management.

The result of the programme, he added, was meant for decision makers, including inter-governmental organizations, to guide on policies formulation and determine the kind of interventions needed to address the identified problems.

Highlights of the meeting were presentation of the past CH analysis and recommendations for the decision-making of the government.
