Farm Inputs Distribution: 30 Rice Cluster Farm Groups Benefit In Edu LGA

No fewer than 30 rice cluster farm groups have benefitted from the ongoing state-wide farm inputs distribution exercise in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas disclosed this while supervising the distribution of the farm inputs to cluster farmers in Yelwa Village, Bacita, Edu Local Government.

Mrs. Thomas, who also doubles as the Chairman, Inputs Distribution Committee appreciated the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his relentless efforts at bringing Kwara to limelight.

She expressed delight for the successful distribution of the inputs in the area, advising the benefitting farmers to ensure judicious use of the farm inputs with a view to spuring government to do more for them in uplifting their livelihood.

The State Commissioner For Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata said the team is in Yelwa village at the instance of Governor AbdulRazaq to distribute farm inputs to the real farmers at the grassroots level.

While congratulating the beneficiaries, Bata assured that the present administration is fully abreast of the challenges confronting the agricultural sector, especially the subsistence farmers, adding that the state government is making efforts to ensure sufficient food production.
 
In their separate remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on
Community Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe and the Special Assistant on Small Farmers Intervention, Hon. Suleiman Belle also corroborated the Commissioner's position, pointing out that the present administration would continue to prioritize the welfare of genuine farmers in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the farmers, the State Chairman, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Hon. Mahmud Aboki appreciated the state government for the intervention, noting that it is the first of its kind to bring intervention to the farmers on their farmlands.

Earlier, the Etsu Tsaragi, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi represented by Sentraki of Tsaragi, Alhaji Jubril Gana Jubril commended the government initiative and its efforts at enhancing the livelihood of the farmers.
